2017 has been an exciting year for Set Free Church of the High Desert. Since this month (November 2017)  marks the anniversary of the homecoming of our Senior Pastor Ron Thomas, lets honor the occasion and reflect on some of the things that God has done in our Ministry.

Last November 23rd,  we coordinated together with other local churches in our community and held our annual Thanksgiving Dinner for the Community. A delicious dinner was shared and enjoyed by all, everyone was loved and welcome, altogether a blessed time of family fellowship

On December 18th, Set Free Church of the High Desert had a Toy Giveaway on Family Day. The Lord blessed us with hundreds of toys to freely bless the children in our congregation, the ranches, and the community with.

The New Year brought about exciting growth and change in our church as we expanded to do more outreach beginning with our Convelescent Care Ministry. Brothers and Sisters from the Ranches and the Congregation fellowship with the residents of the Apple Valley Post Acute Center Monday and Wednesday mornings. The residents their love the visitation and the team that goes out loves spending time with them.

We have also engaged in more Outreach. Outreach is an important arm of the church. Jesus Commands us in Matthew 28 to “Go and Make Disciples of all Nations…” That is what our Ministry of the Word Outreach team does. They go into the Highways and Byways, the River Bottoms, the Alleys, and the inner cities and they share Christ’s love with all whom the Lord place in their path. Invitations are extended to all to receive salvation, as well as the possibility to get off the streets and come into our discipleship homes.

We also have expanded in our Food Ministry. Our Ministry of the Word team picks up food from the Rock, the Way, and Set Free Church Yucaipa. Much of this food is given away on the way back to the homeless and needy they encounter. The rest of it gets distributed in the form of food boxes for anybody who wants one, which are given out driving to outreaches, at outreaches, on the way back, after church, or by arranging a pick up at the Men’s Ranch. Some of it is also used at the ranches.

In February, our Outreach Team in cooperation with Acts Now Ministries was invited to teach Explosive Evangelism Leadership Training Saturday February 18th 10am – 3:00pm in Point Loma, CA. Our Men spent a good part of that week coordinating with San Diego area believers to do an outreach and teaching the Evangelism Explosion Class.

On April 15th, We were privileged to fellowship alongside New Life Church and participate in their annual Easter Egg Hunt, radiating the love of Christ with local children and their families. (and best part of all Rico got to dress-up like a rabbit)

We celebrated our first annual Faith and Freedom Festival on July 1st, 2017 at the Serrano High Stadium in Phelan. Over 3000 people attended this exciting event brought to the local community by Set Free Church of the High Desert, New Life Church, Harvest Christian Fellowship, High Desert Baptist Church, Calvary Chapel of Phelan and Victorville Motors. Local Christian Artists including Crimson Crux and Redeemed, provided music for the event and at dark we shared in a high energy fireworks spectacular. In all a blessed time was had by those in attendance.

On August 5th, 2017, we were blessed once again to be a blessing in the community of Phelan. Our third annual Back2School Back Pack giveaway was held at New Life Church. More than 300 Back Packs filled with Pens, Pencils, Paper, Notebooks, and Essential School Supplies were blessed to K-6 children in our community.

On August the 19th we shared food, the Word and the love of Christ alongside other local churches and non-profits at Adelanto Community Day.

This year on Sept 9th, we once again were privileged to be a part of the 4th annual A Picinic in the Parking-lot sponsored by AGLOW ministries. The function serves as an opportunity for the local church bodies to fellowship together and reach out to one another. Booths and Stage Time was available to all participant. This Years Event was held at the St. Junipero Serra Church at 8820 Sheep Creek Rd, in Phelan. (Previous locations have included High Desert Baptist, and Harvest)

This was a Free Event with Kids Games & Prizes, Door Prizes and a Raffle Give-Away, Lunch, Food Boxes, LIVE MUSIC, guest speakers and most off all
FELLOWSHIP with our brothers and sisters in Christ.

We are still looking forward to our annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner, November 22nd, at the Phelan Community Center 5p-7p as well as our annual Christmas Toy Giveaway in December.

Come be a part of everything the Lord is doing in us, through us and too us at Set Free Church of the High Desert.
