Testimony–Jonathan Sjoland

Jesus has guided my life, since I was a believer at a young age. I first was attending a Christian Church with my Dad. I can recall going to an Easter Presentation, around the age of seven regarding the resurrection of Jesus. I also recall the Christmas seasons since my early childhood, my Mother and Father would emphasize the importance of Christmas. I also recall having a disobedient side of myself. Then as I grew older into junior high, and then high school I can remember rebelling. I never knew that I had become a foe of Jesus as I became more disobedient.

Jesus never left me, I had left him. I remember praying to Jesus after experimenting with drugs in high school. Over time with other prayers from believers of Jesus, I graduated high school. It was a continuation school and I graduated in 1995. I received a $500 scholarship, and I attended Valley Junior College in Colton, CA. I was also working at pizza hut at the time. I was still a little bit disobedient here and there. Overtime I gave into temptation and I tried psychedelic mushrooms. This led me down a very dark path in my life. On May 23rd, 1996 I attempted suicide while in a house, by burning myself alive. I can remember wanting everything to end, my life that is. I can recall hearing Jesus. I can only recall hearing very loud footsteps running towards me. And I can recall leaving the house that I set on fire. I was asked who lit the fire by the arson investigator and I admitted that I did it. I was arrested and I began praying to Jesus. Through his grace I received probation in 1997. I cannot say I don’t have other parts of my testimony, because I have other testimonies of what Jesus has done in my life. I thank him every day for He died for me (John 3:16). I am still a work in progress as a believer. (Romans 3: 10&23).

Amen.
